Searching for Grocery Stores with Arepas
Houstonians and Newstonians, Colombians,
I’ve been searching for Colombian arepas to cook or heat at home for a while now, and it’s becoming pressing because my wife, who just arrived from Colombia, is now a Newstonian.
I’m looking for something similar to how we can go to H-E-B and buy corn tortillas. So far, I’ve only found arepas at two stores, Fiesta and El Ahorro, but they’re too pricey—$6 for 3—and I’m limited to the Goya brand at both places.
So my search continues. Thank you, but no, buying them from restaurants is not an option. My Colombian wife eats them daily the way we (Mexican Americans) eat tortillas almost daily. So I need to stock up during our grocery shopping.
Any leads or tips are welcome
