Screw you, hit and run drivers

My wife just got hit by someone on 59 who, of course, sped off.

The damage doesn't look too bad and, as surprising as it sounds, the guy actuality has a license plate so my wife was able to get the info. For a misdemeanor hit and run, is anything going to actually come out of this, other than our insurance premiums going up?
