Scammers be Scamming! supposed missed Grand Jury Duty summons (old scam, new call)

A "Harris County Sergeant Gray" called to say I had missed Grand Jury Duty, and that I needed to come to 1200 Baker St to provide my signature on a lobby kiosk for comparison against the signature on the certified mail summons, thereby proving it wasn't me who signed for the summons and prevent a warrant from being issued.

I admit that he really had me going there for a minute, but my common sense finally started seeing the red flags. Once I started asking questions, here were the more obvious red flags that appeared: 1) he wanted me to stay on the phone with him while I was on my way. 2) he said that if my signature didn't match the signature on the certified mail receipt, that they would go after the person who signed my name, as if they'd know who it was from the handwriting. 3) the clincher, he said they needed a "sponsor court voucher" as payment, which had to be purchased off-site at a grocery or drug store.

Stay safe out there, folks.
