Say what you will about Nick
The fact that he allows coaches to have a say in their guys is incredible and he actually had solid drafts overall. Missed some great players, but every team does. When you are in dire need and have no free agents BPA goes out the window. Obviously year 1 with Culley, he likely had minimal say. Mills had his time to earn a permanent spot, but I wouldn't say he was a bust or a miss. Collins (DAWG) and Jordan are starting to breakout. Wallow was and is a project. He hired Lovie as a last resort and had him in the draft room to choose Stingley. That was clear and obvious that this was a Lovie influenced pick, he is a stud but he can't stay healthy. Green, this was a position of need on a run-first team. I don't think he thought Lovie/Pep would be 1 year guys. Pitre DAWG. Metchie DAWG. Harris DAWG. Pierce DAWG. Booker, miss. Teagan is okay, but is still here as an inline blocker. Deculus performed great against Highsmith. DAWG as a swing tackle.
It's obvious that Meco and Caserio had the same wants entering into this draft in acquiring WAJ Jr at any cost along with addressing the need of QB with Stroud. Both these men are DAWGS. Juice is a question mark. Dell is a DAWG. Horton is a DAWG. To'oTo'o is a DAWG. Patterson is a DAWG. Hutch is a question mark. Hill is as well.
Caserio made the right decision to fire Lovie and to hire Meco. I don't care if Cal and put the fire under his ass to switch regimes. He made the right call to get WAJ and Stroud, again I don't care if ownership said get a QB he made the right choice. This roster went from dead last to actually being competitive in 3 drafts. We are three years removed from BoB today. It is incredible to look at the growth of this team and to root for them with pride.
