Safe areas to live in Houston?

Looking for a home in Houston and I want to be in the city but I’m scared it’s dangerous so I’m not sure if I should stick to the suburbs.

Potential places I’m looking at: – Heights or Independence Heights – Montrose/Midtown

Suburbs: – Pearland – Friendswood – Sugarland – Spring – Katy – Woodlands

I would prefer to live in the heights or midtown/montrose, but will I be at risk of danger/break-ins?
