Safe and affordable neighborhoods within 30 drives to TMC

I’ve lived in Texas all my life but mostly in rural areas near Houston area. I’ve driven to Houston many times but I honestly don’t know much about the area. I’m hoping to buy a new construction home (about $300k) in Houston that is in safe neighborhoods and close to Texas Medical Center which is where I’ll be starting my job. Any recommendations on which neighborhoods to look for?
