Rotation for the rest of the season idea

So, we’re skipping Blanco’s next start…question I have is should we skip Arrighetti’s as well?

If we do, here’s what our projected rotation would look after this series and the remainder of the way:

  • OAK: Brown, Framber, Kikuchi…all would be on 4 days rest
  • @LAA: JV (on 4 days), Blanco, Arrighetti
  • @SD: Brown, Framber Kikuchi
  • LAA: JV, Blanco, Arrighetti, Brown
  • SEA: Framber, Kikuchi, JV
  • @CLE: (if still battling for a top seed): Brown, Framber, Kikuchi…all on 4 days rest

Note: 4 days rest is normal for a 5-man rotation, but I’m pointing it out here since we’ll likely be going back to a 6-man rotation after this next off day.

Upsides: – Hunter pitches the openers of Oakland, San Diego and Cleveland series…probably the toughest series outside of Seattle. – Kikuchi pitches the 3rd games of the Oakland and Seattle series instead of Arrighetti opening both those series. – Sets up a strong three man rotation if you still are playing for something in Cleveland.

Downsides: – Hunter misses the Seattle series and you get JV instead. – If you don’t get a top 2 seed, yet are still playing for something on the last day, JV, Blanco, or Arrighetti will be your opener in the Wild Card round (followed by Brown and Framber…each on 4 days rest).
