Rosenberg, TX ! Opinions?

Hey ya'll. We recently bought a home in Rosenberg and we close at the end of December. The home is relatively cheaper for homes of that square footage (1933 sq ft, 1 story) in the Houston area. It's a new construction by Lennar. The home itself I love – we're getting inspections done, doing our due diligence, etc to ensure the home is up-to-par. Now for the area- we are about 8 mins away from Brazos Town Center. I went there today to just get a feel of the area and was very unimpressed by the condition of the shops. Target was a mess, I'm pretty sure I saw someone shoplifting an item underneath their jacket, and it was just generally so busy and/or messy and disorganized whatever shop I set foot into. I also know their public school system is not the best, but for the time being, it was the only option still close enough to major citiest that was affordable for us. Keep in mind, I'm moving from a very nice area in Cinco Ranch where we were renting. But we were so tight on space, and got desperate. Does anyone live in Rosenberg? Or know someone that does? Has it gotten better or worse over the years? We're already buying the home, just trying to see if it's as bad as everyone says it is. Thanks in advance.
