Roaches and lizards

Hello everyone. I recently moved to Houston in October. I’m from the panhandle, even though I’m from Texas it’s quite a bit different down here. I have noticed a few roaches in my apartment, a couple big ones and saw a small one this morning.. is that normal since it’s so humid down here? I also have noticed lots of lizards, I like them I was just wondering what kind they may be. Thanks. Also wouldn’t mind making a few friends as well
