Richardson should easily be our pick at 2 and here’s why

I know judging solely based off the combine is a bad idea, but hear me out

Richardson didn’t just do good at the combine: he killed it. His vertical was the best of any quarterback and his 40 time was fourth best. Who’s 40s were better? Let’s say they didn’t weigh nearly as much as Richardson or have his size. He was innacurate in college this is true, but today at the combine looked near perfect. Why? Because he had real nfl ready receivers to throw to. His best receiver at Florida Isnt even going to be a 5th rounder and even that’s generous. Let’s also not act like floridas offensive line is anything to write home about either. Not saying there is no blame on him, I’m just saying with a real nfl coach and nfl players he can get coached into developing better habits especially with a guy like demeco leading the way for him. He’s also very young. he can learn this isn’t his ceiling

Let’s also just talk about his athleticism. Dude runs like cam newton and is twice his size. Dude has literally been shown to throw defensive linemen out the way and keep running he’s that fucking good. also, he has a fucking cannon and if you can teach him accuracy, he can launch that thing from anywhere with barley any wind up. What player runs like Richardson, has the build like Richardson, and has a cannon? No one. His ability to read defenses is another thing he has that is very very good; He just can’t execute his throws but again: with better players and a real coach, he can be taught this. Imagine he’s taught accuracy and can also run the way he runs. It’s perfect. Teams won’t be able to game plan against him

Worst case scenario: Hypothetically, let’s say he doesn’t learn accuracy. Well That’s fine. He will improve in that area no doubt, but if it’s not good, his rushing ability is still going to dominate teams. This is worse case scenario. It’s not like he’s a pocket passer with a cannon and terrible accuracy: he’s an athletic freak who will tear down your defense with his power. He is like if Lamar Jackson was on steroids (except his accuracy needs to be a bit better lol)

Overall, he can and WILL make this offense two dimensional, fun to watch, and very very explosive: the kind of energy we NEED to rejuvenate this franchise: the number 2 pick shouldn’t just be on the safe quarterback because it’s hard evaluating qb talent. Who really is a safe quarterback? Also, “Safe” quarterbacks can turn out to flop all the time. Recent ones are Jared goff, darnold, baker, etc, and let’s not act like the safe qbs in this class are necessarily safe quarterbacks either. Bryce has size problems and stroud played behind the best offense in college ball (also had a bad combine). It’s hard to determine how a qb will translate you’ll never know. Josh Allen could’ve been a bust to many many people but look how that turned out. Upside is important sometimes and the most unexpected players can translate. Josh Allen is a revolutionary quarterback one many have never seen. Not the best, but he’s brought a lot to the table. The qb position is evolving in a way, and I think he can be the most revolutionary never before seen qb ever in the right system with the right man leading it
