Resurrected: The Neon Possum (old Cash County) bar

North Houston used to have quite a few dive bars with a lot of character (and characters), but over the years time, floods, COVID, and changing tastes have killed many of them.

When I first moved to Houston, Greens Road had a few cool spots that catered to the airport area working crowd. Those are all gone now.

A little further north, off 1960, I became a regular at Westfields for quite a few years, until they finally closed up shop.

In between, right off Richey Road, was another joint called Cash County and it was a rocking place to be, until COVID drove a stake through its heart…

A few of the bartenders started working to put the place back together and after a long period of silence, they've opened up as The Neon Possum: https://www.facebook.com/theneonpossum?mibextid=vk8aRt / https://maps.app.goo.gl/khVSgvKf4pSj6pmm8 .

If you live or work in the area and you're a fan of dive bars, I'd recommend checking it out.
