Resources for finding historical information and photos for neighborhood/home in SE Houston?

I am wanting to learn more about the history of the neighborhood I grew up in. The home was built in 1955 and I am open to anything…photos of the area, neighborhood building plans, architectural design, was this neighborhood originally racially segregated? A lot of my neighbors including my family moved onto the block in the late 80s to early 90s. I know some homes, the owners were white and passed away from old age, and African Americans and Latinos began moving into the area.

I’ve reached out to the county archives and they will be sending me past residents of our home and will check if there are any Polaroids available. I also emailed the Houston History Research Center and am waiting to hear back. The neighborhood is near Mykawa off Belfort and I’m not really able to find anything through the public library—I think it might not be a significant enough of an area honestly.

But I’d appreciate any suggestions on where to look, or if you can offer me any personal insight that would also be great.
