Renting a house as a new immigrant

Hello Houstonians,

My husband is starting a new job with a company in Houston so we need to relocate. He just immigrated here therefore he has no credit history or work history in this country. Any suggestions on how to rent a house with these constraints? So far I am seeing property management companies asking for credit history or 6 months of work history and won't take an employment contract as proof of income.
