rent prices and advice

hello, i have some general questions about rent in houston as someone who is thinking of moving out of their parents home. for context im 20 still on college, i live in the north side always have and i really like it but due to difficult situations for family i would like to move out. i’m very lucky my parents have always provided me with everything i need, i’ve never had to pay for my own things until recently that i have two jobs now. i make monthly around 1k, no more than that unless i get extra hours at any of my jobs. my job is typically set so all the hours i do are almost always the same. now i talked to a colleague today and they said they actually have a spare room in their new home, it’s a two story building and i would get my own room, closet, restroom and it’s $600 including bills, wifi, and washer and dryer. i’m honestly not aware on how much rent is or should be, i’ve always lived with my parents and they’ve covered that except my gas. however this is in the southeast of houston and im honestly not used to that area at all. i guess my questioned would be, is this a good price for the place and location and such? ideally i would want to stay in the north side as i actually love living there and everything i’ve ever known is there, but if it’s a good deal i’m not opposed to it completely. another thing is, i don’t have too much of an income, rent would be 60% of my monthly income and although ideally it would be smaller percentage, that’s all i have right now and i’m looking for a third job. btw also have no credit. if that matters? any advice at all i would highly appreciate
