Relocating to Houston (Katy) from Vegas (Summerlin)

We're raising 3 kiddos while living in Summerlin (which we love due to outdoors and proximity to 3 states and things to do), but we're planning on moving to Houston for: 1) Family/Christian values: Distractions and temptations in the city, plus have heard families have a lot of issues here 2) Kid's education: Bad education is famous, though we could afford to send our kids to private school if needed 3) Community: people seem very transient so it's been hard to make deep family connections (eg we'd love to find people to 'raise kids' together)

This is our analysis but PLEASE CORRECT US IF WE'RE WRONG

HOUSTON
Pros: :
– Family values/strong-knit communities (we'd like to find other families like at church we can 'raise our kids' with
– Lower cost of living –> is this really true? property taxes and insurance seem really higher
– Good public school education (at least in Katy, Cypress, Woodlands)

Cons:
– Boring/flat no outdoor activities
– Humidity/heat
– Airport is far/crowded/traffic
