Relocating to Houston from NYC

I will potentially be getting transferred to Houston for work (if i agree and go through with the whole process) and not gonna lie, I’m big nervous. I’m not afraid of moving into a new state just because I moved from another country to NYC and I’m alive. However, living here I never cared for having a car or even a driver’s license. Relocation package is very sweet and financially, at least, I’d be better off in Houston. I was very happy because with what I pay here in rent, i could afford a “luxury apartment” over there, however, because I dont have a car, I was looking at places close to work, around Memorial City and… they’re in fact not cheap. My thought process was… i could uber until I could get a cheap car/sort my driver’s license issue. The other apartments I’ve seen online are gorgeous and “cheap” but not close at all and Ubering would be $$$. What would you even do? What are cheaper and safe neighborhoods close to work? Would you even move? What other struggles would you think I have with such transition?

Edit to add more personal info, for what it’s worth: I’m single in my early 30’s, my family lives abroad, so it would just be me. NYC dating life is the lowest of the low… maybe I’m the drama but I honestly just need a fresh start. I have a friend that accepted one of these relocation packages (it was FL) and she got married within a year.
