Registering out-of-state vehicle

Hi everyone! I have a very specific question. I'm an out-of-state student, and maintain an address in my home state. My car's registration is expired, and driving back to my home state to renew the registration isn't really an option. I'm wondering if it's possible to register my car in Texas without getting a Texas title/plates? Any advice is much appreciated 🙂
