Registering Car Purchased Out of State

I bought a car from another state and am having it shipped here. I can’t see to wrap my mind on how to go about registering it in Texas. I financed it, so the title is with that company.

I’ve been checking out the website, but still am a little confused. I see I can get an appointment in December, but does that mean I won’t have even a temp plate until then? That seems like a sure fire way to get pulled over/get a ticket.
