Recommended neighbourhood for a couple with no kids, only a dog?
Hi Reddit!
Thank you in advance for you help. Me and my boyfriend are relocating to Houston next months for work. Our office will be in Sugar Land Industrial Boulevard. I'm researching a lot of areas and reading through all the previous posts but figured it would be great if I can hear directly from the community.
As we will be here minimum of 3 years we are considering buying a house (company helped pay closing costs), so we want to be able to choose the right area within limited time span (Hopeful to buy before March)
This is something we have in mind of where we want to live
Community-wise
– Close to work (Less than 30 minutes driving to office)
– Have a lot of parks / walking path that we can take our dog for walks
– Quiet area preferred
– Have access to good restaurants (By delivery is also ok) and if possible, Asian groceries.
House-wise
– 2 bedrooms++ with garden (for dog)
– Budget upto 400,0000 USD
– Prefer newer house (Built after year 2000) or new built
Based on the above criteria, below are the areas I have found (though I would not know if they are accurate!)
– Sugar Land : I understand Sugar Land would be nice to live in but I'm struggling to find specific areas. Also the house prices seems quite high with our budget and criteria.
– Katy : I understand it's a very popular area due to the schools. But since we don't have kids and not planning to have any. I'm not sure if Katy would still be a good place since it's a bit further & I heard there is a lot of traffic
– Richmond: House price seems to be lower than Sugar land
– Rosenburg : Same with Richmond
– Cinco Ranch & Fulshear : I found new built communities by highland homes that look really nice and the distance is not too far from Sugar Land.
These are the above that I'm mainly researching, if you guys could please help advise based on what you know in-depth about the area if it suits our needs, or if you could think of any other areas that I missed. I would really appreciate it.
Looking forward to reading your comments!
