Recommendations on one way travel from Houston to Lake Charles, LA?

Hi all,

Ill be flying into Houston in the next month or so and will need to travel to Lake Charles, LA to pick up a car and drive it back home to FL.

One way car rental prices appear to be prohibitively expensive at the moment, so any thoughts on how to best make the journey from Houston to Lake Charles?
