Rebuilding

We underperformed last season and still ended up in first place with maybe our most important player out for half the season. Not to mention getting well below average production out of 1B and basically 2/3 of the outfield.

The pitching staff was decimated and we were able to get the most out of the guys who stepped up in their place. This is very encouraging to me.

If Bregman leaves the lineup will be in an even bigger bind that it currently is, no doubt. When Altuve and others say that Bregman's leadership in the clubhouse can't be replaced I believe it. This can't be understated or glossed over.

But to hell with rebuilding after coming off the season we just had. Yeah, we need to retool. But this is true with or without Bregman. I'm not saying we will be able to, or that the next man up philosophy is going to work next year. But I'm not down for trading Framber, Tucker, etc. just because Bregman leaves. The team has earned the right to give it one more shot at least.

The fact is Bregman has taken a step back at the plate. Can he find his form again? I think he is capable. But 2019 was a while ago. It is likely he will never be that player again.

Does anyone else feel the same? If we're crap at the all star break then I'm all for the fire sale. But I think it's worth seeing what we got first. Does anyone else feel the same?
