Reason I like the Cooks trade (short term)…

Outside of the Rams paying a bulk of his contract, I like that he’s a vet. Could we have taken an unproven rookie with that pick? Absolutely! Would’ve been a helluva a lot cheaper in the long run. With the departure of Hop, a rookie drafted in the second round would be expected to come in and have an immediate impact.

Short term: it’s hard to gauge when this lockdown will be over. That means there will be minimal practices and time to catch rookies up to speed. I feel like loading our offense with veteran playmakers helps reduce the inevitable lag that will come with limited practice time. At least we can minimize the bleeding on one side of the ball
