Realistic Trade Comp for Watson.
We all want to walk away with an insane haul that destroys the NFL. It will be good…but not that good.
You may not have heard but Zero fan bases are excited about DW4. Most threatening to walk away from the franchise if they bring him in.
Also, he will miss time. Anyone’s guess how much.
There’s also that Houston has already leaked that they’ve lowered the asking price of 3 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 players.
Realistically I think we can get from Miami:
2022 1st via SF, 2nd from MIA, Xavien Howard OR Byron Jones.
2023 1st from MIA, 2nd from MIA, Whatever they get for Tua
Why a CB? They are the only big contracts that won’t flood Miami with Dead Money. They have to unload one and afford Watson
Why only 2 firsts? The issues above, plus Houston won’t agree to protected picks. Nor should they. It hamstrings your ability to make future decisions.
In the end, 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a solid player. I believe that’s best case. Miami still has a 1st each year so they aren’t mortgaging their entire future.
Seems fair. I know people here will say 3 firsts, 3 seconds and Waddle (even though that would destroy Miami with Dead Money). But the above would be fair, and I’d take it and be happy. Get DW4 out of here.
