Random thought re: DHop trade

Why isn't the media criticizing Arizona for not negotiating a deal with Hopkins before the trade? I've read a lot of criticism of Houston because they did not sign Tunsil but these same people (like McClain) aren't saying anything about AZ. Is it because it wasn't a rookie deal? Does that even matter?
