Raising Cane’s on Shepherd/i10 stole my credit card info and tried to buy an iphone
|
I went to the Cane’s on Shepherd/i10 drive-thru about 2 weeks ago. They took my card but did not return it, but I am an idiot so I did not notice until the next day. I went back the following day and retrieved my card (I was told it had been in the safe overnight). Yesterday, I started received 5-10 spam emails per minute. I looked this up on Reddit and learned it is a common tactic used to try to distract someone from seeing an important email about 2FA or something. I kept an eye on my inbox and saw an email from Apple come through. Someone had used the card I had left at Cane’s to purchase an iPhone for same day pickup at the Highland Village Apple store. I immediately called the Apple store and told them the order was fraudulent, and also called my bank and had the card cancelled. Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Obviously I can’t guarantee that the two events are related, but it seems highly highly likely given the timing. I called the Cane’s and explained what happened and they basically told me to go f**k myself (which is fine, I don’t know what I was expecting, but I figured they would want to know that they have someone on their staff stealing credit card numbers and committing fraud. I assume they could pretty easily cross reference my receipt to review camera footage for that day/time to see if anything fishy happened with my card between my handing it to the employee and it being placed in the safe). submitted by /u/PercentageBoring6254 |
