Quiet areas on the outskirts?

I've been lurking here for a bit. I'm now considering making the move to the Houston area. I've done some searching here and there, watched videos on pros and cons, etc. tbh, I'd rather hear directly from y'all on what areas might be suitable. For starts, my work is remote. Also, I'm single, no kids, but no longer need (or want) to live smack-dab in the middle of the city. I've done that, and enjoyed it.

Here's what I'm looking for:

1. outside of the actual city. outskirts = awesome
2. access to decent Internet service (my work and grad school are both online)
3. diverse (I'm mixed / multicultural, and need to be somewhere where I am not going to be eyed suspiciously for going out for a walk alone, for instance. I've been there, never want to repeat that. )
4. quiet (I know that the stereotype is usually, small town = conservative, good ol' days yearning folk, but I also know this is not always the case. ex: Marfa, TX or Davis, CA).

Does such a place exist in the Houston area? Thank you for any help on this !
