Question about riding metro….

I’ll be riding metro tomorrow into the med center for work. First time I’ve done it since I’ve lived here in Houston.

I have my route figured out, I’m just confused about transfers. The website says transfers are free within 3 hours but how does that work when I actually do it?

For example, I’ll be taking the 23 Northline TC and then hop on the Red Line then I’ll be hoping on another bus. Do I just scan the Q ticketing app again and it would automatically honor that transfer? I just don’t wanna look too lost while riding the bus lol
