Question about Houston area (Briarforest – Walnut bend)

Hi there!

I'm a Canadian who just immigrated to the states, about to settle down in the Houston area. Single guy with two beagles.

I've put an offer in on a home I really loved in the Walnut Bend area around Del Monte drive. Very quiet, 500-700k homes, seemed like beautiful old single family home area.

Saw a couple of threads warning people about crime in the Briarforest area and specifically if you get south of Briarforest, (which this is, first block south of Briarforest). Wondering if anyone had any experience in walnut bend in particular?

Some things I've heard is that the single family neighborhoods are safe and boring and great and that it's only the apartment complexes to watch out for, others seem to suggest it might be a bigger problem.

Any advice about the area would be great, thanks!
