Question about centerpoint.
I have lived in my house for almost 20 years and this is my first time dealing with a gas leak. It was coming from the valve to turn on the gas log fireplace. I live near spring tx so not in Houston city limits.
I called centerpoint and thought they would repair it. They found another leak supposedly in the furnace in addition to the fireplace one and six I needed to call a plumber and hvac The centerpoint worker shut off my gas and offered the services of a friend of his that has an hvac company.
He schedules the appointment for me and the plumber shows up and does the repair. His friend comes later and says he needs the gas on toncheck for the leak, calls the centerpoint worker he tells him how to turn the gas back on and remove the lock he put on my meter.
I h ad already scheduled them to come out previously to turn the gas back on and they didn't come and so he did it to do the repair. Now they are supposed to come out to turn the gas on but it is on.
They didn't show up for the appointment and I waited till midnight. Not sure what to do since I have gas anyway, but would have liked them to check to make sure there is no leak now.
Is it normal for the hvac guy to turn your locked gas mater back on?
I am new to all of this so thanks for the advice. After my experience it seems I would be better off risking the leak and not calling them….
