Q Metro ticketing app

When you use the q Metro app and buy a ticket on there, are you supposed to do anything besides just have the ticket in the app itself? Ive ridden the rail a few times recently and no one has checked me for a ticket but I'm paranoid I'm doing something wrong. Do you just show the QR code scanner on your phone if a ticket checker comes on?
