public transportation in houston

hello everyone, i am from türkiye, i will be staying in houston for a month this july. i am a doctor and have a rotation in medical center area. i am having a hard time to find accommodation, all i have found so far looks not so close on the map >1 hours on foot. so i will be depending on subway and buses apparently. will i get disappointed? is houston’s public transportation system dependable? plus, i would love to hear any suggestions for accommodation, if possible.
