PSA: Inspire Solar and Infinity Energy are scams

I had the bright idea of switching to solar back in november 2023. GEXA recommended Inspire, who sell the panels. They're sales associate came to my house and spoke about the panels and the process. Everything seemed simple and easy. The price was also comparable to other competitors. So I got into contract with them and was financed through EverBright Solar. Infinity began the installation process in late november but the sales associate from Inspire told me that some last minute adjustments needed to made for my panels and that I needed to cover the cost of $1100 so I sent Inspire the money and expected a receipt as was promised. However, days go by and no receipt is sent. I send texts and emails but nothing. I got a random phone call where he verbally said that he will send me a receipt and then nothing happened. My life unfortuantely got busy at the same time and I couldn't follow up on it right away. In february, when things cleared up on my end I started to follow up. Mind you, by this point the PTO had not been approved, the panels were installed but they couldn't be turned on. I called GEXA, who said they see the PTO and I got briefly excited and I asked to get on the solar buyback plan. But the panels were not producing anything. I tried to call Infinity multiple times. I tried to call Enphase, the manufacturer, but the number on the Enlighten app was wrong and out of service. The phone numbers on google and their respective websites were out of service. I get in touch with GEXA to help. They somehow got a hold of VP of Inspire, who spoke to me and said he'll sort this out (this is still in February). However, no further communication followed. I again could not get in touch with them. I call GEXA again, who at least agreed to get me back on a regular electricity plan because I was getting charged a crazy amount on the solar buy back since the panels are non-functional. GEXA also gave me information about Enphase, the manufacturer. I finally get in touch with them who do end up turning on the panels briefly but they went back to being off-service after 2-3 hours of being active. They're "working on it". I get in touch with Everbright, the financier, to try to get some information. While getting me information about Infinity, they found out that Infinity has been out of business for a while. They were apparently not aware of this either. So now, my panels don't work. I paid someone $1100 to install likely defective panels but have no receipt for it. I have wasted months trying to call multiple people. I got charged a ridiculous amount on my electricity bill for the brief time I was on the solar buy-back plan. All in all, the tree hugger in me feels extremely dejected. Not only do I want my money back, but I honestly want some investigative journalist or someone to look into this. I certainly have no time to do it but I feel confident that I cannot be the only person who has been affected by this. In the grand scheme of things, I suppose I'm grateful that I hadn't started making payments to EverBright for the panels.
