Port of Houston Ability to Absorb Traffic
If you’re just waking up, the big news of the night is that an uncontrolled cargo ship brought down the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, effectively shutting down the Port of Baltimore to all traffic. I lived in Baltimore for 4 years & still follow the sub from time to time and people are saying that this is going to have an unbelievable effect on the local economy there.
It made me wonder, how much capacity can the other ports of North America, such as Houston, absorb from an event like this? I imagine it’ll take time but all shipping that was meant for PoB for the foreseeable future will have to go elsewhere for companies to function. So how well would Houston be able to handle such an influx of extra traffic?
