please help–resources for unhoused single mothers
Hello,
I wanted to know if there are any shelters or other resources in the Houston area for single houseless mothers with kids and no car, I want to pass along the info to a person that needs it who has one grade school aged child
based on my research I have already told the person about:
shelters–Covenant House, Life Center Houston, Houstontxhelp instagram page- their grocery delivery program, the houston community fridges, Star of Hope, Magnificat Houses, ECHO, Mission of Yahweh, Women connection, and Gracewood. all these places are filled at the moment unfortunately. Ive already sent her info about food banks in the area based on what google maps gave me. I imagine the school her child attends will connect her with services bc of the Mckinney-veto act, but they cannot help find housing.
If anyone knew of any other free food distributions or soup kitchens (she has no access to a kitchen so she can't cook), or anywhere else she can stay in the Houston area that would be great. or if free uber rides for low income people are a thing, or if there's a reduced bus fare program.
thank you!
