Pipe burst second year in a row, recommendations to prevent?

Basically the title. We are first-time homeowners and did not take proper precautions in December of 2022 which led to a burst pipe and water leaking from the ceiling.

We thought we took all the proper precautions this year. We shut off the water main, unhooked the hoses outside, opened all the faucets / shower, turned the water heater to pilot / shut off the cold water intake on the heater, opened cabinets, you name it. This morning (when the temps got above freezing) we tried a very quick test run on the water and we immediately had water pouring out of a vent again. We booked with John Moore right away, but will still be out of water until this is fixed.

I am going to add more insulation in the attic / around the pipes, but outside of that, is there anything that we missed in prepping for the freeze or any recommendations to help us make sure this doesn't happen again?

Thanks in advance!
