Pho Bo To and Bo Ne

A visit to Pho Bò To & Bò Né in Houston, Texas will satisfy all of your Vietnamese food cravings y’all! Houston is blessed with many things. One of those is cultural diversity which we see reflected in the many types of cuisines of the world right here in Houston.

If you are craving great Vietnamese food or you have never experienced great Vietnamese food in Houston, we highly recommend checking out Pho Bò To & Bò Né. The two videos below will take you through a tour of the kitchen and a Great Eats Video featuring two of their most popular dishes.

The Kitchen Tour Went Down Like This:

We started the Great Eats Feature with the Sizzling Hot Plate.

True to its name, it was sizzling hot! The beef is added to the cow iron plate and is allowed to cook to perfection. Once the sizzle gets going, the kitchen chef pours savory sauces and cracks the two eggs just in time. The hot plate is transferred over to a wooden tray where it waits for the hungry table it’s destined for.

Luckily for us, that lucky table was where we were seated so it was a match made in heaven. 💗

Pho Bò To & Bò Né is famous for their classic Pho which comes with an intense offering of options.

It can be stated that Pho is the most popular food in Vietnam as many families and restaurants serve this savory and nutrient rich soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I had never seen Pho prepared before so I was quite surprised to find out the ingredients are placed raw into a bowl and the steaming hot & savory broth is poured over it – ensuring everything inside the bowl is cooked to perfection. The herbs and vegetables cooked inside the bowl add to the light feel of this dish. This dish is served with short rib, tender beef, meat balls, tripe, soft tendon, flank and fatty brisket.

The Houston’s Great Eats Feature happened like this:

Let’s start with the teas – we became instant fans of the Lychee Jelly Tea and the Winter Melon with Basil Seeds and Mint Tea. We tried both and they were equally refreshing and light. I don’t know how much sugar are in these teas but it did not taste like it was loaded with sugar – both were just right!

Andro and I started with two phenomenal teas and went straight for the first dish lovingly named the Sizzling Hot Skillet. This plate is overflowing with flavor. It all starts with this super-hot iron skillet that’s placed over the gas stove top…all the ingredients are added one by one and that’s how the magic happens.

My favorite part of this dish was making the mini sandwiches with the bread. It might be untraditional…I don’t know…but I do know that it was delicious! Breaking off mini bread bites and wrapping it around the beef to then dip the bread into the sauces and egg yolk instantly became my favorite way to take in all the flavors.

After we had consumed the Sizzling Hot Plate, we focused our efforts on the Pho. What made this Pho so spectacular was all of the savory ingredients and the broth…the broth is so good it will knock your socks off! All of the raw meat is cooked to perfection in the savory broth so bite (or slurp) after bite will delight all of your tastebuds – I guarantee it!
