PFAS

The City of Sugar Land prioritizes clean, safe drinking water and adheres to stringent guidelines established by the EPA and TCEQ. Recent EPA proposals aim to regulate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOA and PFOS, due to their persistence and potential health risks. PFAS, commonly known as “forever chemicals,” are widely used in consumer and industrial products, posing environmental and health concerns. While PFAS have not been regulated in drinking water previously, ongoing monitoring and proposed regulations underscore the city’s commitment to public health and safety.
