Peru Eats in Houston
I always tell people how fortunate we are to live in a city with so much diversity. If you are not able to travel to see the world, you can definitely get cultured on the world in a city like Houston just by opening yourself up to the different cultural experiences in and around our city.
We are taking this opportunity to start a deep dive into the culture and foods of Peru.Â
On the top of the agenda for this article is to set up a sit down with the Peruvian Consulate here in Houston to get a deeper understanding of the country, it’s people and where we can find Peru interwoven into the city we all love – Houston.
We started our Peruvian experience by taking a culinary trip through a local Peruvian restaurant – La Guitarra con Sazon. We ordered the Tamal Peruano and the Choritos a La Chalaca and it’s an understatement to say we were blown away!Â
The majority of what the restaurant offers on the menu are seafood items and from what we experienced, everything is made fresh. Andro and I split the The Tamal Peruano with pork. What made this dish stand out was the flavor profile throughout every bite as well as the moistness of the tamal itself. Similar to the Cardi B Song…who wants a dry tamal? No one.Â
What’s our verdict? Five stars all the way! This restaurant is on fire as we both loved the service, the ambiance and the food.Â
We filmed our first Peruvian food experience with La Guitarra con Sazon. Below you can see our own play by play on the food experience.
Stay tuned for more Peruvian adventures in Houston!
