People who grew up here…

I'm not sure if a question like this has already been asked, if so apologies.

That said I was hanging out with some friends, a few were in town visiting as well. One of my out-of-town friends said she was considering moving to houston. As someone who's been living here for the last 10 years, I encouraged her to do it.
Another friend who was born and raised in Houston got rather annoyed with my comment.

He started listing all the many reasons he dislikes the influx of people moving here throughout the last few years or so. I was a little taken back by this because this was honestly the first time I've heard anyone from the city make such a complaint and gripe about this. My question is, for the locals and the folks that have been here for decades, what are your personal opinions on the many people who often move to the city?! 👀
