Parking in montrose

I have a friend visiting Houston for the first time and we both wanna hang out in montrose for a night. I've been in the area but have never actually had to park and leave my car somewhere. Are there any neighborhoods I could leave my car nearby montrose? Or should I just bite the bullet for a nite and spend 20 bucks on parking? I just wanna have a good time and not constantly worry about my car possibly getting towed. I've done some searching around and all the parking garages charge around the same which is 20 ish bucks.
