Our Highways are worse than OG Mad Max

With everyone posting about highway deaths I wanted share this observation:

The dystopian film Mad Max begins with a sign stating 57 fatalities on the road this year. The sign is meant to evoke an unthinkable amount of death on a lawless outback highway.

Over the past 7 years I-10 and I-45 and US-59 each averaged more deaths per year than what was an apocalyptic vision of driver recklessness in the 1970’s.
