Other than the coastal counties, do you think a lot of people in the Houston area will evacuate when the next Cat 2 or higher hurricane threatens to hit?

Hardly anyone had thought that something that was a strong tropical storm/barely a hurricane would cause such unprecedented power outages that would go on for over week in some cases. It has definitely caused a lot of frustration among Houstonians to the point that some are even consider moving out. If this much has happened with this kind of storm, can you imagine how devastating it would be should we deal with a category 3 or higher?

At the same time I remember what happened in 2005 with hurricane Rita when many residents around the Houston and surrounding areas evacuated and the massive traffic gridlock it caused where many cars got stuck on the roads ran out of gas and some had even died in that process.

Pretty much tropical cyclones in general have proven that Houston is not prepared to deal with another hurricane. It’s already bad enough we have to deal with the threat of flooding on top of not being able to get power restored promptly.
