Op-ed: Uncertainty looms despite Supreme Court’s DACA decision
On June 18, the Supreme Court blocked the Trump administration’s efforts to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) — an Obama-era program that protects undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children from deportation and permits work authorization and limited travel.
Since September 2017, DACA has been on life support while pending litigation results and only application renewals were allowed; no initial applications or requests for advance parole.
