One pet store insists on breaking Houston’s anti puppy mill law
Of course the one store that refuses to follow the Houston ordinance that stops the sale of puppy mill puppies in pet stores is…. Petland.
I apologize for anyone who can't see this article because of the Chronicle's paywall, but here it is: The pet store breaking Houston's 'puppy mill' ban is due in court (houstonchronicle.com)
The most galling part of the article is Petland corporate saying they expect their stores to follow local laws. Oh gee, great guys, so glad you EXPECT your stores to follow the law. Why not MAKE your stores follow the law? Is that too much to ask?
Apparently the answer to that is "yes" for a store that sells sick puppies for thousands of dollars and uses puppy mills to keep those store cages stocked. And of course the city is dragging their feet when they should just go shut this place down.
