One day in Houston – where to go?

Hi! I am coming from Canada to Houston for a wedding. I am staying in the Katy Mills area. I have one day on Saturday where I can explore. Any suggestions on some nice areas to walk around, or things to do? The closer to Katy Mills area the better, but fine going into DT Houston as we have a car.

We're 3 people in our mid 30s, we like good food (bonus for good BBQ), cute shops and strollable communities, or just something fun to see. So far I came across Rice Village that looks good. Any other suggestions?
