Nursing in Houston

Hello,

I am a BSN senior student in Pittsburgh, PA and I am thinking of moving to Houston, Texas to work next year! I got there by pure internet research, just looking at metro areas with highest salary to cost-of-living ratios, well-ranked hospitals, diversity, big city (which I prefer), there’s a lot that I think I will like.

I am going to visit this Sunday and have been trying to coordinate a unit tour with hospitals there, so far just got a response from Ben Taub Medical ICU, but it’s better than no responses! I also understand my request may be unconventional.

I really want to work in a city and unit where I’m happy so want to scope things well before making the move. Nurses of Houston, I know this has to vary far and wide, but what are your experiences and do you enioy your work? What is the culture on your unit? Any input is appreciated!
