New to Houston – what neighborhoods seems like tight knit communities / easy for a young professional to fit in?

Work will likely be in Tomball – what would be a good neighborhood 20-30 minutes away that feels like an easy to fit in community for a late 20’s young professional? I’m coming from Detroit and Philadelphia where there’s plenty of transplants and night life … looking for an area where it is easy to meet friendly people. Asian food and grocery shopping would be a plus.
