New to Houston – Fun/Cheap Neighborhoods

Hey everyone, new to the Houston area! Am going to be moving into the Houston area in June to start a new position in the med center. Currently I am a graduate student on a rather limited budget. Was curious if anyone has any thoughts on interesting yet relatively cheap areas to rent in? Looking for areas that are more or less walkable with stuff to do within a reasonable radius.

I have seen a few previous posts about this topic, however, as the cost of living has increased greatly and with Houston seemingly growing everyday, I can imagine quite a lot has changed.

Any thought would be greatly appreciated!
