New Police Cars. Annoying anyone else?

In the last couple of months I’ve recently noticed many new police cars in the Washington Ave. area. They’re the revamped Ford Explorers, fully blacked out with quite literally, the darkest grey without being black police stickers they could find. You can’t really tell it’s a police car until sitting next to one at a light.

Although I’m sure there’s nothing that can be done about this, I’m just confused how that’s okay? I know unmarked vehicles are a thing (and these practically are), is there not a special exemption that’s needed?

My main concern is the use of them at night. As a woman I personally would be terrified of pulling over unaware if it really is a cop or not. Regardless, scary. And I don’t even want to know how much these have cost the city.

Anyways, I think they’ll slowly be switching the department’s vehicles to these unfortunately. Any information on these dumb cars is appreciated.
