Neighbourhoods in Houston – potential move

Hi folks. I’m applying for a job in Houston currently, and I’m from the UK. I have lived in the US before (NYC), and found my time there a pleasant one. I realise that Houston and NYC are very different.

Could anyone tell me the neighbourhoods which would be a wise choice for a 30-something female? My budget is somewhere in the middle – I’m not rich but I’ll pay for a safe area. I’d say up to around 2500 USD.
